Elgin + Ashley @ BALI!

This is an overdue post that I’m suppose to write 2 weeks ago, and I finally did it after I finished my reservist training….yeah yeah yeah!

Well, this Bali shoot was sandwiched between my Paris shoot and my reservist training. I had the pleasure to hang out with Elgin and Ashley at beautiful sunny Bali and we had lots of fun especially getting lost when driving to the locations….kekeke

Hi Gabriel, thanks for making the whole photo shoot so stress–free and enjoyable. Loved all the images that you have taken. Also, really appreciate your other value–added services like your recommendation in accommodation, places to eat and shop. Elgin & I really have enjoyed our whole Bali trip. Thanks once again!

Yang’s 5 years old birthday!

Tomorrow is Yang’s 5 years old birthday. Every year, we will celebrate at his school. As it falls on Saturday this year, we decided to celebrate 2 days earlier so he can share the joy with his classmates. Below is a short recap of previous years…..you call tell from the cakes to trace what he likes over the years.

In Belgium and France

I’m back from Europe! It was a blast and I’m already planning my next year’s trip! If you are interested in shooting pre-wedding in Paris and Belgium for 2009, call me now! Limited spaces!

We started our shoot in Bruges of Belgium, the Venice of the North, one of the few wholly medieval towns in the world. We had our best bread there, much better than Paris! And we also visited the Basilica of the Holy Blood, named after the Holy Relic believed to contain the blood of Jesus. What a trip!

Joyce - nice pictures! Can you mail me your rates for your europe photography? considering an overseas photoshoot (for my wedding next year) =) btw, where was the bride’s gown from? its lovely!

Saturday, 11 October, 2008 - 12:02 am

gigi - The pictures and backdrop are nice!! The bride can really pose naturally!! The make up is too reflective and the hair can be more elaborated….. But overall still nice!!

Saturday, 11 October, 2008 - 8:47 pm

Gabriel Mendes - Hi Joyce, I just emailed you the rates for next year’s trip. The bride’s gown shot at Belgium was purchased in Hong Kong. The rest of the gowns shot in France are designed by Vaughn Tan (http://www.vaughnt.com/).

Hi gigi, I can’t fault the makeup and hairstyle because they are all done by the bride herself. She specifically went to learn how to DIY hair & makeup for this trip. We are super stress on achieving the look, luckily it turns out well. I’m proud of her as she only learnt 3 sessions from the cosmetic counter and ready to “chiong” Paris!

Sunday, 12 October, 2008 - 11:14 pm

GG - Any idea where she learnt her makeup and hair from?

Sunday, 12 October, 2008 - 11:33 pm

Gabriel Mendes - Hi gg, she learn at those departmental store cosmetic counter where you buy products from them, they give you free personal makeup lessons. For hairstyle, she learnt from her AD makeup artist from Vaughn Tan, who taught her how to do full buns and half buns. It is a risky route which I don’t recommennd unless you already know how to do simple makeup yourself. If you want to learn, you can try this school http://www.the-makeuproom.com/ , taught by 2 very good makeup artists, Jyue Huey and Bobbie.

Leelian - Thanks so much Gabriel for leaving us such beautiful memories on our europe prewedding shots. It can be stressful as the weather is subjective and the crowd made us uneasy, but you managed to capture our love, thanks for the efforts!!

GG - Hi Gabriel, Thanks for sharing the info. I will check the website out!
No worries, I already know basic makeup… almost at the intermediate level… but want to improve to get to “professional” level for my own daily makeup! =P Thanks dude! =)

Tess - Hi Gabriel, I’m Serene’s cousin. Think we met at her wedding. Anyway, kudos to the bride for looking so wonderful… Man, she can do my wedding makeup any day. I’m terrible at makeup (hardly wear any) so I guess I’d rather trust a makeup artist! 🙂 BTW, I just got engaged so we’re wondering on how long in advance do we have to book a session with you? Btw, we could be considering an Italy photo shoot if you have any ideas. The Versailles shot n carousal shot was marvelous. Love her dresses in those pics!

Tuesday, 30 December, 2008 - 11:46 am

Gabriel Mendes - Hi Tess, I had replied your queries via email.

Hi friends, if you are keen to shoot in Paris but concern about the cost flying a makeup artist, I have contacts for local Parisan makeup artist at affordable rates.

Super Newborn – Matthew

3 weeks ago my client Han and Ivo, whom I shoot their wedding in 2006, welcomed their beautiful baby boy Matthew to the world! I’m so thrilled when Han asked me to come over to take some photos for them. As I’m flying off to Paris tonight, we conducted the shoot this morning when Matthew is awake.
