A baby’s smile is a wonder to behold. As a parent, it is understandable, and even expected, that you want to capture every waking moment of your child as everything he or she does is a wonder. Babies need to be comfortable always. They cry immediately when they need something, like food and fresh nappy. So before the photo session, make sure your baby has had his or her sleep and milk. Have fresh diapers on hand for emergency. Also, bring you child’s favorite toy. Babies will need something they love when they are in an unfamiliar place such as the photographer’s studio.

If possible, do the session at home, where your child is most comfortable at. The familiar surrounding will make him feel relaxed even with the unfamiliar lights and cameras.

Making Your Baby Smile For The Portrait

Making your precious one smile may not be rocket science but it may be hard to capture with the camera. To catch that smile, cajole your baby to do so. Giving him toys will only divert his attention. Instead, hold the toy close to the camera and use exaggerated expressions so your baby can melt into a smile, if not a laugh.

Old-fashioned cooing and coaxing are the best tricks to make babies smile. Parents are also the best persons to cajole them into doing so. The photographer may be able to capture the smile on camera, but it’s still the parents who can bring it out.

Taking a baby portrait photography takes time and patience. Remember that while a smiling baby makes for a great portrait, his natural expression is also a sight worth seizing.
